"Jews survived all the defeats, expulsions, persecutions and pogroms, the centuries in which they were regarded as a pariah people, even the Holocaust itself, because they never gave up the faith that one day they would be free to live as Jews without fear." -Jonathan Sacks

This memorial website is dedicated to the innocent Jewish people who were displaced, tortured, or hurt in any way by the Holocaust. The persecution and distress that the Jews have gone through because of the Holocaust is unreal. The Jewish people will be forever honored and never forgotten. The Holocaust is a clear example of how effortless it can be to blame others for problems when there is nobody else to blame. This event has taught us, as a species, to not only think of ourselves in comparison to others; to be compassionate and respect the innocent and successful. The world will carry the burden of this inhumane genocide throughout the entire future.

May all of you rest in peace.

Never Again: A Song to Remember the Holocaust by Stephen Melzack

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2dKMDz9b64

This song talks about the situation of the Jewish people during the Holocaust. The lyrics "They stood in fear, Where could they go? They stood so brave, What did they know?" are referring to the Jewish people, being scared of the situation at hand but were unaware of the horror that awaited them. This connects to the innocence of the Jewish people and the hopelessness of the Jews against the Nazis as a theme. This also connects to the ideas of blame and scapegoats.

The lyrics "How could it be? The world was blind. Was no one there? To make a stand?" and "Knowing wrong from right" relate to the bystanders of the Holocaust who took no action against the barbaric acts of the Nazis. Did they know that it was wrong? Somebody had to. The courage and compassion that took place by the minorities that opposed the Nazi's regime are in such small amounts that they aren't fully recognized.

All in all, this song is a great example of a piece of literature that honors those murdered and tortured by the Holocaust. It serves as a reminder to what happened, and helps people realize that this situation needs to be prevented today and in the future.
